Smith’s Mill Health Campus

Smith’s Mill Health Campus, is a two-story, 90,000 sf facility offering Independent Living apartments, Assisted Living options as well as Skilled Nursing, Short-Term Care, and Memory Care services. Smith’s Mill has a full-service kitchen on each level, several resident community spaces throughout, rehabilitation and physical therapy rooms, as well as wander management systems integrated into the building access control.

The campus is located in New Albany, Ohio, a desirable executive community that boasts Georgian architecture, with buildings tucked behind lanes lined with stately red maple and honey locust trees bordered by white horse fences.  When arcDESIGN was selected as the Architect for this new Health Campus, we recognized that the exterior design would need to reflect the City’s strict building guidelines and aesthetic codes that follow traditional American styles found in the ‘Field Guide to American Architecture’.  The building’s facades exhibit common characteristics such as hipped or gabled rooflines and detailing influenced by classical architecture.
