Built in 1905, this historic structure located in the Wholesale District in Indianapolis was originally a small hotel/bar. Following its use as a storage space for the past 50 years, a complete renovation was needed before occupancy.
Scope: arcDESIGN designed office and apartment space for their new center of operations. Every effort was made to maintain as much of the original metal decorative ceiling, hardwood floors, brick and limestone detailing. Because the building is located within the square mile of downtown Indianapolis, all renovations were approved by the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission. Originally utilizing the lower and first floors, arcDESIGN has expanded into the third level and now occupies the entire building due to the firm’s growth.
