For decades, OrthoIndy has stood as a pillar of orthopedic excellence in the Indianapolis area, consistently placing patient well-being at the forefront of its mission. Recognizing the evolving landscape of healthcare delivery and the need for greater patient convenience on the growing West Side of Indianapolis, OrthoIndy sought to reimagine their service model. The result is a new, strategically located 36,475-square-foot outpatient surgery center and medical office building at the prominent intersection of 56th Street and Ronald Reagan Parkway. This purpose-built facility significantly enhances patient access, streamlines clinical workflows, and embodiesOrthoIndy’s enduring commitment to providing exceptional, outcome-driven orthopedic care in a welcoming and modern environment.

Addressing the Need for Enhanced Accessibility
Understanding the increasing importance of convenient healthcare access, OrthoIndy proactively addressed limitations at their former Brownsburg location. The selection of the new site was a deliberate decision, prioritizing high visibility and ease of access for patients traveling from various points in the region. This strategic positioning underscores OrthoIndy’s dedication to meeting patients where they are, ensuring timely and stress-free access to specialized orthopedic services.

Patient-Centered Design and Operational Efficiency
The design of the new OrthoIndy West Side facility was a deeply collaborative process, engaging OrthoIndy’s surgeon’s, clinicians and leadership at every stage. The design team employed adjacency diagrams and evidence-based planning principles to meticulously craft a space that optimizes both the patient and care team experience. By strategically positioning high-impact, patient-facing areas at the core of the facility and carefully considering behind-the-scenes operational flow, the design promotes intuitive patient navigation and empowers care teams to deliver more coordinated, efficient, and ultimately, more successful treatment outcomes. The integration of services under one roof – including Urgent Care, Imaging, Physical & Occupational Therapy, and Outpatient Surgery with two dedicated Orthopedic Operating suites – further enhances convenience and continuity of care for patients. Creating a design that efficiently supports this integration of services while at the same time providing the required hospital licensure separations was a challenge that was solved with a patient minded approach.

Architectural Expression of Brand
The architectural design of the new facility serves as a modern interpretation of OrthoIndy’s established brand identity. The red metal paneling has been thoughtfully reimagined, creating a bold yet refined exterior that signals both continuity and progress. Inside, the design prioritizes a healing and welcoming atmosphere through thoughtful spatial organization and the incorporation of abundant natural light. This commitment to creating a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing environment supports patient well-being and reinforces OrthoIndy’s dedication to a holistic care experience.
